I create automated, industrial-grade algorithmic trading systems for my own use and share my journey with other traders who are interested. I call my automated systems 'Trading Minions'. It's easy to 'trade like a machine' when a machine is doing the trading. When I'm not thinking about trading systems, I make real machines, like steam engines. I also play a little ukulele. Well, all ukuleles are little, aren't they?

Great work & research Mike. I presume the performance of the system may be (slightly) different when we switch from CFD to live (actual) prices ? better or worse than what it is currently ? we will get to know going forward, or are you confident it will be similar results ? I presume the back testing is done on IG-CFD’s. It will be interesting & exciting to find out.

      Thanks Stefan,

It will be better with live prices. I did some comparisons yesterday between Pepperstone accounts and the ‘Razor’ account transaction costs are about half of the standard account transaction costs for FX. Not so for gold though because the spread is the same for commodities on both account types.

Back testing is done on raw market prices using the market spread, so would probably be closer to live market.

This is really interesting “stuff” … and I’ve come across Van Tharp’s work previously – but not got my head into as much as this.
I’ve sent a longer response as part of another email – but looking forward to seeing regular updates on this and how the Eight Wonder of the World works in your favour πŸ™‚ Lots of applications here for many of us down the track I suspect.

Keep up the great work and well presented articles and research.

      Hi Peter,

Thanks for your comment. The book is a weighty read – not bad if you have trouble getting to sleep πŸ˜‰
